A facilitator is a person who helps a group of people to cover the given material without taking a particular position in the discussion. They guide and manage the group’s conversation, ensuring effective participation, and eliciting responses towards the common goal for the group. In the case of a facilitator for Finding Meaning and Hope, the facilitator’s role is to have materials ready, cover the material in the allotted time, validate caregivers’ feelings, elicit responses and guide the discussion in the right direction according to the material.
Each facilitator serves as a guide throughout the 10-week program, leading 90-minute sessions designed to support family caregivers. They introduce videos, follow a structured script to guide meaningful discussions, and offer prompts that encourage personal reflection and growth. Facilitators help caregivers explore key topics such as ambiguous loss, stress management, coping strategies, building resilience, complex grief, and identifying a “family of the heart,” all in ways that connect to each caregiver’s unique journey.
