The Measure by Nikki Erlick tells the story of a world where every adult receives a box containing a string that reveals the exact length of their life. The novel explores the societal and personal ramifications of this knowledge as individuals grapple with the choice of whether to know their fate and how that knowledge will impact their lives. The book follows a diverse cast of characters whose lives become intertwined as they navigate the consequences of this newfound awareness.
