Caregiving can be isolating. It can breed anger, resentment, and judgement toward those closest to you who remain uninvolved. Left unchecked, it can shorten your own life. Back by popular demand, Shannon Arriola, a Memory Care & Parkinson’s Coach, will take you through strategies to engage resistant family members, foster cooperation, and reduce the emotional toll of doing it all alone.
You’ll learn:
Ease the strain of feeling alone in the caregiving journey
Draw in family and friends with specific, actionable asks
Create effective communication when sharing updates
Assign responsibilities for those still in denial or
disbelief
Accept the present reality of your loved one’s condition
– and move forward
About the Speaker:
Sixteen years ago, while working fulltime in healthcare, Shannon Arriola, MC, became caregiver for both her mother and aunt who developed dementia within the same year. Experiencing first-hand the challenges of navigating a family through the transitions of dementia led her to shift her life’s work to memory and Parkinson’s care. Shannon’s “sweet spot” is working with individuals and families to steer through the emotional, financial, and physically exhausting experiences of tending to loved ones requiring round-the-clock care. She holds a graduate degree in Counseling and has post graduate education in Systems Inquiry and Coaching with additional studies in neurological disorders and diseases.
